Household Hazardous Waste

Household hazardous waste is the residue of many common household hazardous products.

Hazardous waste is used oils, used oil filters, paints, aerosols, removers, glue, solvents, cleaning products, insecticides, chemical products, batteries, propane tanks, acids, and other hazardous waste.

Why recycle paint and oils?

Once in our bin, the paint is sent to the Laurentide Re/sources Inc. processing plant in Victoriaville. This plant sorts, filters and reuses the residue to make new recycled paint that is then marketed.

The recovered products, which include 100% of the containers, are then reused, recycled or recovered for energy. The metal containers are used to manufacture objects such as tools, bicycles, fire hydrants, etc. Plastic containers are used to make park benches and picnic tables.
