The Ministère des Transports is informing road users and its partners that it is proceeding with the complete closure of the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge, between Vaudreuil-Dorion and Senneville. This preventive closure is required in order to carry out emergency work that will strengthen several elements of the structure.
Cause of closure
As part of the work in progress, the Ministry observed reinforcing rods damage. Since the structure could have been weakened by this damage, complete closure is considered the only responsible option to ensure the safety of road users.
Traffic management and free access
Traffic is detoured by highways 20 and 30.
In order to offer road users an alternative route and simplify travel on the network, the Ministry will exceptionally withdraw the toll on Highway 30 until the bridge reopens. Free admission, applicable to all road users (passenger vehicles, trucks, etc.) will be effective from 4.30 p.m. today.
Also, the ARTM, in collaboration with EXO, is offering free service on the EXO1 Vaudreuil-Hudson train line as of May 20 at 4 p.m. The free admission will be in effect this weekend and then the following weekdays. It will be in effect until the bridge reopens.
Police officers will be deployed at strategic locations on the network to facilitate traffic.
The Ministry is aware that this closure will have a significant impact on traffic and thanks road users for their cooperation. When possible, it is recommended to favor public transport or to work from home.
